ETHAN CHANG

Ethan Chang

My name is Ethan Chang, and I am a Film and Television Production student in the Class of 2027. I was born and raised on Oahu Hawai’i.

I am my high school’s class representative for the Class of 2023, which plans reunions and represents the Class of 2023 in any capacity (graduation to indefinitely).

For the 2023-24 season, I am an ex-officio member of the MPIAA Board of Directors Executive Committee, which represents my high school's alumni.

In my past roles, I was a student ambassador for four years of high school and volunteered on school tours, panels, and volunteer opportunities.

During my junior or senior year, I was a member of Holomua, a student group for students who display character and represent the school at formal events, as recommended by instructors and staff.

Throughout high school, I received honors

  • -  (President's List Freshman-Senior).

  • -  Na 'Ohana Award 2023: one student from the class of 2023 who embodies the school

slogan "the honor of my school is mine".

  • -  Most Inspirational Athlete Award 2023: one male student in the whole athletic

department who motivates others both on and off the field.

  • -  Service Award 2023: one male student from the class of 2023 who has acted upon service

and good character during their time in my previous institution.

I was the captain of my high school's Christian club, which provides a community for kids to gain wellness, fellowship, and find purpose in life through God.

I danced Hula for all four years of high school and received a film and theater certificate after studying acting, film, and hula classes for two years. Creating a bond with my Hula brothers and sisters on/off the stage.

Throughout my first year at LMU, I've been a member and possible leader of Outdoors Recreation & Adventure for the 2024-25 season.

I work part-time for student experience as a voice in their commercial videos and marketing team.

I work as a content creator for the LMU men's basketball team, focusing on their social media presence.

Through my actions, role, and voice, I intend to set a positive example for ASLMU and the Loyola Marymount University student body.

SHAYAN JAMALEDDIN

Hello Lions! I'm Shayan, eager to serve as your next Vice President of Student Wellness for ASLMU. Over the past year, I've been deeply involved in our student government as a Senator-at-Large, gaining invaluable insights into its operations and the responsibilities that come with leadership roles. My engagement extends beyond governance; I've held pivotal roles in the Persian Cultural Association, the Entrepreneurship Society, and SFL, and have been an active student worker since my freshman year (shout out to the Lion’s Den, Event Operations, and my fellow Tour Guides!). My diverse experiences across LMU's vibrant community have fueled my commitment to enhancing our collective student experience.

As your prospective VP of Student Wellness, I am dedicated to addressing key areas that impact our daily lives on campus:

Mental Health Initiatives:

  • ●  Enhanced Therapy Access: Introduce an online booking system to streamline appointments and raise awareness of available mental health programs.

  • ●  Health Awareness Campaigns: Organize events each semester focusing on crucial health topics like sleep and nutrition, featuring expert speakers.

  • ●  Nap Pods: Establish free, accessible napping spaces across campus for rest.

  • ●  Creative Outlets: Provide complimentary group classes in the arts, including music,

dance, and painting, to foster creativity and stress relief.

    Physical Wellness Priorities:

  • ●  Gym Equipment Upgrade: Conduct a survey to identify and fulfill student preferences for new equipment in the Burns Recreation Center.

  • ●  Sexual Health Resources: Ensure free STD testing, along with accessible protection and feminine hygiene products for all students.

  • ●  Regular Health Screenings: Offer screenings for vital health metrics to promote awareness and proactive health management.

    Academic Support Enhancements:

  • ●  Mentorship Programs: Establish a platform for upperclassmen to guide and support underclassmen within their majors.

  • ●  Expanded Tutoring Services: Increase the availability of peer tutoring across a broader range of courses.

  • ●  Faculty-Student Interaction: Facilitate Q&A sessions and other engagement opportunities with professors.

    Financial Assistance Innovations:

Competitive Pricing for Campus Dining: Advocate for price matching in campus stores and dining halls with external retailers, inspired by initiatives like Rodrigo's within our Senate.

Wellness Wednesday Flexibility: Enable the use of meal plans for Wellness Wednesday offerings, promoting accessibility to more students.

I am committed to making these initiatives a reality, with your support. Together, we can create a more supportive, engaging, and wellness-oriented campus environment. Let's make it happen, Lions!
